I would agree with your argument... Do you think there is any information out there that suggests Compulsory Immunization leads to more Government control? In the medical Marijuana act the only reason people are afraid of passing it is because they are worried the Government will gain more control to legalize more drugs. Do you think this is the first step into a communistic state? The two situations seem alike in my view I think of it like this.We are in a race the only way win is to take the first step... could this be the first step? Is it a good or bad idea? i really think it is a bad idea

Excellent choice of a book. The economist recently reviewed it and said it tied all of Sen's work together into one grand theory. I'm looking forward to reading these blogs.

My point, Charlie, is that a case that does not leave our opponent ground for debate is unfair, regardless if all the arguments contained within it are valid. A truism is, by definition, not fallacious. There is an important difference between a tautology and a truism. A case that rests on a tautology is flawed. A case that's truistic or based on an unfair interpretation of the topic is not logically flawed, but is one I am arguing a debater ought not run.

The CPR case is sleazy.

oh boy I'm getting plenty of coverage. You frame my argument in an interesting way, however. What I meant to say, was that presenting facts and then arguing that these facts are sufficient is not an unfair argument to make. I don't think that this constitutes a truism, nor do i think fairness matters as long as you follow the basic argumentative structure, which this does not violate.

And I never got theory on CPR!!!
