One of the best things about coming to Central Asia is good grilled meat. I was a little disappointed when lunch yesterday was Italian food. I had spaghetti and grilled trout. It was tasty and supposedly cooked by an Italian chef, but I had to admit to longing for some shashlik. The thing is, everyone else I was eating with are native to Central Asia, so I guess they don’t get excited as I do with the prospect of an authentic Kyrgyz dinner.
For dinner I did get grilled lamb ribs and they were good, but not as good as others I’ve had here. They brew Carlsberg here locally, so that’s the freshest and least expensive beer to drink here. Since I spent all day yesterday in a meeting, I don’t have much to report about Bishkek just yet, other than that they have an amazing amount of pollen here. There was so much pollen last night that we had to move inside for dinner despite the otherwise beautiful weather.
The mountains that guard this city are amazingly beautiful, and I’m hoping to get some pictures to share with the few readers of this blog today. I’m still trying to get my iPhone connected to the Internet, but it’s been remarkably difficult to even get wireless access here.

You are welcome once more!
Did you eat national Uzbek meal (plov, manty and samsy) in Osh?

I had plov. I am not sure about many and samsy: there were a lot of dishes that we at. I really liked the plov, though.
