The Yankees have now won seven World Championships in my lifetime. I noticed that there are some hisiorcally challenged sportwriters calling Jeter, Pettite, Posada in Rivera and Pettite the “Gang of Four,” an unfortunate sobriquet that I hope doesn’t stick. That those four Yankee have won five World Series together over a span of thirteen years is pretty amazing. I suspect they’ll all end up in the Hall of Fame. Jeter and Rivera are gauarantee spots and will get elected the first year they’re eligible. I suspect Posada and Pettite will have to wait a few years, but they’ll join them soon enough. Twelve Months Left for the 44th President?

Leading up to yesterday’s elections, there was a lot of talk about how Barack Obama has performed in the year since he Election Day 2008. Few of the pundits issuing report cards on the Obama’s presidency acknowledged that he has still not even been in office in ten months as they compared his list of campaign promises to his accomplishment. Of course, these guys get paid to analyze politics and if nothing else the anniversary of the 2008 elections gave them something to write about. As a blogger, I guess I have to join the chorus, but all I can really say about the Obama Presidency at this stage is that now he’s got about a year left before he’s unlikely to be able to get much more done.… Continue reading
