
The Yankees have now won seven World Championships in my lifetime. I noticed that there are some hisiorcally challenged sportwriters calling Jeter, Pettite, Posada in Rivera and Pettite the “Gang of Four,” an unfortunate sobriquet that I hope doesn’t stick. That those four Yankee have won five World Series together over a span of thirteen years is pretty amazing. I suspect they’ll all end up in the Hall of Fame. Jeter and Rivera are gauarantee spots and will get elected the first year they’re eligible. I suspect Posada and Pettite will have to wait a few years, but they’ll join them soon enough.
