Yesterday was a long day that ended included a mystery that I am going to ask the handful of people who are reading this blog to help me solve. I have a lot of new media to add to this blog, but unfortunately I won’t have time before leaving Korea to upload it. Hopefully, I’ll have a chance after I get home tomorrow (later today if your on my side of the dateline at the moment).

Yesterday was mostly work, but we did manage to get a little sightseeing in. Sadly, the day involved no grilled meat. While the two meals we had were interesting (more on that tomorrow, regardless of which side of the dateline you’re on, as well). These meals not compare to the grilled meat feast of the previous evening. While the BBQ at my neighborhood Korean restaurant, Mills Korean Restaurant, is good, and there’s always K-Town, I do feel like I’m leaving without having gotten my fill of the grilled meat.

As for the mystery: one of yesterday’s activities was a trip outside of Seoul to the Korean University Debate National Championship. It was a trek to get there, but once we got to the campus, the way to the tournament was marked by posters taped to the ground and on fences, walls, etc.

Here’s the poster (you can click on it to make it bigger.)

Korean National Debate Championship Poster

Since it was a longish walk to the tournament building we amused ourselves trying to figure out who was whom in the pictures and speculating on why they chose to feature the rather odd assortment of people they did. We had a little trouble identifying Picasso and Deng Xiaoping, but the one that still has us stumped is the fellow with the handlebar mustache right above Lincoln. I know I’ve seen him before, but I can’t remember who he is. Anyone know? Before anyone complains that I should have taken a close-up of the guy if I didn’t know who he was, I didn’t at the time think it would take this long to figure out who he was.
